Introduction: Having been trained by the Yamaha music school in keyboard when she was in preschool, Alice inherited a natural feel for music teaching of the comprehensive elements of music: listen, sing, play, read and compose. Immediately upon completion of her Bachelor of Art and Elementary Education Degree, she was appointed flute and piano faculty at the Yamaha Music Education School and the Kawai Music Education School in Taiwan. She has since served on the faculty of Zen Music Center, Song of the Songs Music School, Fort Lee Music School and Fantasia Music. Alice is currently on faculty at the Joy of Music Program and Pakachoag Music School in Massachusetts, and is a flute instructor in the Auburn Public Schools. Alice has coached for the Judith Mendenhall flute masterclasses for chamber music abroad.
Having been strongly influenced and inspired through the Yamaha music school at a young age, Alice uses the “ singing and picture of sounds" for young beginners, immersing students in the language of music through stories and extensive listening. Parent involvement in students’ weekly lessons and daily practice is a distinguishing attribute of music learning as well as students' participation in lessons. With all students, Alice encourages student confidence, growth, problem solving skills and self-awareness, all of which are vital skills in one’s life.
