FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My basic hourly rate is negotiable when booking a series of sessions. This applies to yoga/dance and acting classes. For writing projects the fee is negotiated individually. I do mostly creative writing, speeches, scripts and engaging text for web sites are my strengths. I DO NOT WRITE GRANTS.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The unique background I have in dance and theater is an excellent tool for reading and understanding people - the key to conveying information in a usable format. Each person learns differently and I love beginning with easy physical movement no matter the discipline. Simply identifying places of tension or resistance helps to gently release them allowing forward motion and growth. I am patient and supportive while gently challenging my clients to see their strengths and innate abilities.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My dance training started when I was a child of four with a stern Hungarian ballet mistress and I'm so grateful because she was amazing! I began teaching younger students at fifteen and started performing professionally at eighteen. I've worked on Broadway, Las Vegas and toured the United States, Europe, the Orient and New Zealand. My acting studies intensified as I grew into leading roles and I continue to improve my craft as a working actress on stage and in film. Yoga studies began as a young single mother to deal with stress and after my recovery from cancer I fulfilled a dream of teaching yoga with my certification at Integral Yoga Institute in Manhattan, teaching steadily since then with a concentration in the residential treatment community. My celebrity clients, both dance and yoga, include Kathy Valentine of the Go-Gos, Tia Carrere and the late Anthony Perkins. Several writing workshops include UCLA Extension "Screen Writing on the Right Side of the Brain," with Bonnie MacBird ("Tron" and its sequel), NoHo Arts (North Hollywood, CA) Writers Group where my story line in a collaborative play was favorably mentioned in the LA Times, receiving two successful productions. I adapted this piece into a short film which we've just finished editing and will submit to festivals this year. I'm currently workshopping a TV pilot in a professional writer's workshop run by Joe Dain, (Terror Films, Sunrise Pictures) busy Hollywood producer whose many accomplishments can be searched on Imdb. Non-fiction has been published in Long Beach's Grunion Gazette and Downtown News, online with the Recovery View Journal and I'm finishing a book-length yoga text for substance abusers in recovery. Preparing "Unbelievable Love," a short story collection for publication later this year.
