FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I usually charge $300 an hour. I flat fee orders of protection subject to certain comditions amd I flat fee criminal cases in a tiered pricing system depending on whether a trial is requested.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I meet with the client, unless that is inconvenient. I listen to the description of the conflict and I review the documents that were served on them as well as any prior judgments. I also do a case search in the other party, if relevant, to determine any history of the other side. I also start educating the client on the law immediately. Even if I am not hired, most consults leave with a better understanding of the law and what discretion the judge has in their oarticular case. Discretion is where clients tend to lose in Court. Therefore, I ensure a client understands where a Judge has power and where a Judge is required to act in certain ways.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from SLU law school in 1996. I am licensed in Missouri and Illinois. amy first job as a lawyer involved me workinig with family amd criminal law. I was also employed as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in St. Charles County for the chld support enforcement unit. ai initiated the FIRST intnational extradition for failing to pay child support in US history. I also charged emoloyers with theft and fraud when garnished wages were stolen by employers. I prosecuted licensed professionals who fell behind payment and sought to suspend their licenses. Finally, I have argued cases in the appellate courts and the Missiuri Supreme Court and won a case in the United States Supreme Court. In law school, I won both the mock trial competition and the appellate court competition. i competed nationally in both types of contests and it was very rare for one law student to win both competitions.
