- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Voice coaching: Your first session gives me the opportunity to find out what your goals are, where you're headed with your music, and to assess your voice. I'll work with you using customised vocal exercises to begin training and conditioning your vocal muscles. If you have a song you want to work on, bring it with you. You can bring sheet music or a karaoke track or we can just look it up online. New students schedule their first appointment with me by going to my online appointment setter here (just copy and paste): professionalvoicecoaching.acuityscheduling.com Scroll down to section A and select "This is my first coaching session." Event / Wedding DJ: These services can be booked using the same scheduler. Piano lessons: Please call me at 801.609.IDEA to discuss options.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Singing: My first performance was in 2nd grade. I've been performing in top ensembles and as a soloist ever since. I sang for ten years with the Utah Chamber Artists, performed with the Boston Pops, Utah Symphony, on PBS, backed up Rosemary Clooney, and more. I have performed the national anthem at the Salt Lake Bees games and sung at corporate events. I'm a member of International Voice Teachers of Mix (IVTOM), receiving training/mentoring from Dean Kaelin, Eric Richards, Teri Stock, and Rocio Guitard. This training is different than the average music teacher training. Mix singing integrates science with music. Medical doctors, speech pathologists, vocalogists, and musicians provide instruction to voice teachers. This training gives me the ability to train you in correct vocal technique to avoid damage to your voice, fix singing problems, and to eliminate the breaks in the voice that singers frequently experience when switching between head voice (falsetto) and chest voice. With practice you can have the same smooth, natural, tone quality throughout your entire vocal range without any breaks in the voice. Event/Wedding DJ: -Speakers, microphones, sound reinforcement, music I hosted a show on KPCW Park City for 7 years as a DJ. I have provided sound and music at events and weddings since 2001. My experience performing in the fine arts gives me an edge in understanding how to provide a smooth-flowing, professional event. Your event can be choreographed so that specific songs or sounds occur at specific moments. And with my voice over skills, I can give simple announcements to your crowd, or I can emcee your event and give it a professional polish. Piano: I took private piano lessons for 10 years as a youth and an additional year in college. I have a minor in Music from BYU. You'll learn how to read music, chords and melodies, rhythm, syncopation, counterpoint, phrasing, and how to perform. I've studied classical, jazz, broadway, pop, country, ragtime, and more.
