FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I do not have standard pricing. I base my cost on the project alone. But because I do this for fun rather than for my core income, I am able to keep my prices very low.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I will ask questions--a lot of questions. I need to know what they want to accomplish with their writing. If it is a speech, I want to know all about the audience, the subject matter and the customer; I want to create a voice that is authentic to the customer, not to me. If it's a resume or cover letter, I want to know about the job they want to get, the work and experience they have, and the voice they want to convey. I want to know if the customer wants editing only, or editorial insights as well. Ultimately, I want to know how I can satisfy the customer's needs, at a fair price.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a B.S. in sociology from Brigham Young University and a law degree from the J. Reuben Clark Law School (Brigham Young University). During law school, I served a the executive editor for the Journal of Education and Law. I have practiced law for over 13 years, and have spent much of that time writing and editing.
