Introduction: I have been a professional performing musician for over 10 years and a private teacher for 5 years.
I began playing music in high school, with a primary interest in rock genres. However, thanks to good teachers, I quickly developed a passion for jazz and classical styles. I continued this passion throughout my life, studying jazz at both Mesa College and SDSU. I currently continue to study privately and hope to do so throughout my life. There is always more to learn and ways to improve -- a belief that I hope to impart to all my students.
In my years of teaching, I have helped students of all ages to achieve their personal musical goals. Regardless of whether they thought of music as a fun hobby or a primary focus in their life.
My favorite part about teaching music is seeing students develop as musicians and achieve or surpass their musical goals. To me, it's important to help students see their own potential and understand how they can grow. I always try to push my students to gain a higher level of both ability on their instrument and appreciation of music in general. There is no greater feeling in the world, to me, than seeing a student improve and gain confidence on their instrument.
