FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I give a range of the time it will take such as 10-20 hours and a rough estimate of the material costs. I bill for the different stages, such as clean-up, planting, mulching and irrigation. I also do maintenance, typically monthly.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I typically ask the client to send pictures of the yard via text or email with a description of what they would like me to do. Then I respond with general suggestions. Then I meet them at the property to look at the yard, take more pictures and discuss options. I ask what their budget is and try to get a general idea of how they spend time in the space. Then I write and send a proposal for work to be done with a general range of time it will take at an hourly rate and a rough estimate of the material's cost. Then I do the work. In some phases, such as selecting or approving plant choices, I send additional photos. Sometimes, I meet the client at the nursery if they want to actually see the plants.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I completed the two-Year horticulture program at City College and was taught by friends who are gardeners. I volunteered at the native plant nursery in the Presidio. I volunteered and took classes at a permaculture farm. I currently volunteer at a local community garden.
