What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Many projects vary depending on the clients needs. As a base reference for most jobs I have a starting cost. A few things go into consideration when pricing: Square Footage, Detail Level, Conceptual or Photo-Real, Furnished/Unfurnished, Landscape/No Landscape.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First we find out exactly what the client needs and expectations for the final product. Second we gather resources, examples, sketches, or any other helpful references to get the job done. Third we deliver a basic render for review and then make adjustments to finalize your concepts and designs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Graduating from Northwest College of Art and Design and getting a B.F.A. with double major in Fine Art and Entertainment Art I have used this education to fast track my expertise in creating a business for something I am passionate about. After writing my thesis on what has influenced my artistic journey I realized it has always been about architecture. With that in mind and my skills as a 3D modeler and render-er I put them together to become what I am today.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
After school a builder contacted me with a job to do a 3D floor plan. I enjoyed this so much I began to look for similar work.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with Builders, Interior Designers, Home Outfitters, Real Estate Marketers, and Architectural Product Manufacturing Companies.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I am currently helping a builder with a custom home design. I really enjoy working with this builder because I have seen the home develop from the beginning. I have been there from the initial design. As the clients request changes to the home we update renders and CAD files. We have just finished with the exterior and I look forward to visualizing the interior. This is one of those projects that challenges me and allows me to explore new skills. So far this project has taken about 10 months.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Just know that the money spent on 3D visualization has many positive benefits and will save a lot of time and money for you. For professionals it allows their client to be on the same page as you. For the clients it gives them the peace of mind and clarity they need.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Advice would be to really work out the details in the beginning. The more information I am provided with in the beginning the better. The process will go much easier and faster.
