Introduction: I offer lessons in guitar and bass in all styles. I recently moved to Saxtons River from San Francisco where I taught since 1975. I love helping to de-mystify music for people, my goal is to prepare my students to play with other musicians and to really express themselves.

I have taken bass guitar and guitar lessons (incl. theory) from Mark for five years while he was in San Francisco, and benefited greatly from his approach to teaching. Mark has a way of finding the balance between making the students comfortable and making them push their limits at the same time. While I was with him he had students of all ages, and the annual student recital was always the highlight of the Calendar. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Everything! Mark taught me guitar for over 11 years. He was kind, patient and has a great sense of humor. Although I was not great at practicing, Mark never made me feel badly about that and we would just focus on where we left off the last lesson. I learned all the bar chords with Mark over the years and although he would write me charts for songs I wanted to learn, he also steered me to play more complex chord arrangements and helped me learn how to take solos and improvise. Students are lucky to have Mark on the East Coast, we miss him in SF!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I am flexible, if you come to me I charge $ 25 per 1/2 hour and $50 per hour if I travel to you it's $30 and $55. i have done trades in the past with carpenters and trades-people. Do you have a snowplow?
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Most importantly I want to know what you want to do with music, then i try to figure out a fun and interesting program to meet your goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied music at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. I have been a working professional musician since 1970. Some styles I have played include: folk, rock, blues, jazz, classical. Show music including writing and performing music for theater cabaret, circus, and backing singers.
