A major and growingly common challenge confronts teacher’s and student's work in today’s public schools. The challenge is aimed at elimination of the gaps in academic achievement for all students and subgroups. I believe all students have the capacity to learn and as educators we simply need to select the right tool(s) to use to ensure we are giving all students the capacity to learn at a high level. The growing achievement gap continues to be an area of concern for me as a teacher, so beginning summer tutoring program that uses my experience with literacy development and technology driven instructional formats and innovative practices using media in which to engage all of our students. What might occur is if we think about scaffolding and supporting all learners with complex and challenging rigor rather than simply remediating the curriculum for students?
