- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Normally I like to discuss details over the phone, so I can get a good idea of the client's wishes and desires for their project. Once I know all the details I can customize to their personal needs. I love working with my clients and find a ton of joy in making their wishes come to fruition through beautiful photographs. It's a really personal thing, no two projects are the same and that's what I love about my job. It keeps me on my toes and always learning and growing. It's truly an honor to get to do this as my job. I love it!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I got my start in photography working for a nonprofit as the staff photographer. I took one semester of 35mm film photography in college, and I loved it, but I never thought of it as a job till I was actually making money with my camera. And It has never really felt like work. I spent 4 years working with project managers, web designers, print designers, filmmakers and other photographers. I got to work on a wide range of projects, including portraiture, fine art photography for print, product photography, studio photography and photojournalism style for events, concerts and conferences. I also was a lead photographer for a team of volunteers. It was years spent doing what I love with people who cared deeply. It was amazing. I got so much real-life training. After that, I spent a few year as a freelance wedding photographer in the DC metro area. All this combined to give me an edge over other photographers. I have done it all, literally, and I love shooting all types of photography, from location shoots to beautiful in-studio sessions, photojournalism, and fine art landscapes. Not only can I shoot anything someone asks me to do, I do with years of experience under my camera strap, I mean belt.
