Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I've worked as a designer and developer for 10 years now, doing everything from designing packaging for soybeans to developing a workflow management system for a VFX studio. I've worked with organizations of all sizes (everything from small one-person-businesses to UW), always paying the same attention to the needs of the client. I enjoy talking to people and trying to figure out exactly what they need, what will be best for them and how I can help them reach their goals. Every project is different and I'm always interested in finding new ways of doing things.

Fran is fantastic to work with! He created our beautiful new responsive, ad-forward design on www.seattleglobalist.com.

Fran is fantastic! He recently designed and developed the new site for our daily news publication The Seattle Globalist. He presented a fresh design that responded to our needs, while preserving our brand. He was receptive and responsive to our feedback, and had the technical expertise to implement all of the features we were looking for. It's rare to find strong design sensibilities and technical know-how combined in one person, but Fran is the total package. He also brews a great cup of tea. Highly recommended!

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I usually start by asking what the goals for the project are. Sometimes that's very easy to define (increase sales, communicate services, etc), but sometimes it takes some questioning and exploring. I find that answering these very simple questions helps inform all the work, make better decisions and, more importantly, measure the success of the work.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I actually started doing comics, which that lend itself to graphic design. From there I started working on a design studio. That for the graphic end of my work. As for developing, I was always playing with my computer and I started teaching myself to code when I was 11 years old. At some point, my interest in graphic design merged very naturally with development.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Make sure you're working with people that ask many questions and are curious about what you're trying to get done. Everybody involved should understand your motivations, what makes you click...
