Introduction: 38 years of teaching high school math. Then was a homeschool tutor and teacher after I retired. I miss the challenge of students wanting to learn, but having difficulty understanding concepts.
I like helping people understand. I can explain in different ways. I have learned many tricks that help students understand. I cared about my students and want them to succeed.

Kathy Smith is the best math teacher I have known. She taught my daughter algebra 1 and my daughter aced every algebra class she took after that, including Algebra 2 and a college algebra class. My daughter was struggling with algebra before Kathy Smith taught her. She had already failed Algebra 1 the first time she took it. She is now a sophomore English major in college and we are both so grateful for Kathy's help. I don't think we could have gotten though Algebra without her. She has over thirty years experience in the classroom, loves the students, and was available for help outside the classroom when needed. She even helped me to learn some things that I had never been taught! Best. Teacher. Ever.

Kathie taught high school math classes at our Home Educators' Resource Center for several years, as well as patiently tutoring several of the students individually. The students all praised her highly, and felt that they were well prepared to take SAT and ACT tests, and to go on to college level math. Kathie was also able to teach parents how to explain the upper level math concepts to their children at home, and offered several classes in this. We were sorry when she was no longer available to teach our students - a math expert like Kathie, who is also able to teach others to "see" math concepts as she does, is hard to find!
