Introduction: I began my career in fitness with my own weight loss journey. My Father battled cancer, heart attacks, and had many spine surgeries due to being over 200 lbs overweight the majority of his adult life. At the age of 18 I weighed 360 lbs myself and realized if I did not do something I would be following in his footsteps. I began by joining a gym and educated myself in my way to working off over 152 lbs. I became motivated to join the armed forces following 9-11-01 and after serving in the USMC, I studied and received a degree in Exercise Science and became a two time Master Trainer with experience in nutritional counseling, youth and senior training, strength and conditioning, exercise therapy, as well as working hand in hand with three chiropractic offices as their functional rehab trainer. Nutrition accounts for 70% of your success towards your fitness goals whether you want to put on muscle or lose body fat. I will provide nutrition guidance that will get you to achieve your goal. Their is not a style of training I can not provide, whether it is weight loss, muscle building, or performance driven. I am passionate about helping others and provide the highest quality in strength training, powerlifting, weight loss, posture correction, conditioning, rehabilitation, and functional training. My pricing list is as follows: -$40/hr session -Unlimited training $650/month -Located in Signal Hill Fitness and working out should be fun. I enjoy motivating and inspiring greatness as well as sharing knowledge of exercise and nutrition and seeing clients attain goals. Working out develops character, discipline, self direction, integrity, self esteem, confidence, and a greater work ethic that not only gets results in your fitness journey, but can be applied to everyday live as well.

Mike Makin is one of the brightest, guiding lights in my life. Mike has helped me with solid, nutritional advice; proper, resistance-training technique; well-monitored, cardio training; life coaching; deep-tissue, myofascia release; injury recovery; he's consistently upbeat & prepared if we're meeting at six AM or seven PM; he's given me tips on where to find the best deals on buying healthy food & recipe suggestions on how to cook it; and, he helped me switch out the driver's seat on my venerable Honda Civic with a borrowed wrench in front of the gym one morning. Mike has helped me set goals and has reliably, patiently, and enthusiastically steered me towards them; he knows when to speak & when to listen. My point: if Mike Makin decides you're worth his time & efforts, consider yourself fortunate; as, I am.

I have been working with Mike for about a year now. I have lost a bunch of weight and am stronger now than I ever have been. I am stronger and in many aspects more in shape than when I was a college athlete. His knowledge goes past just the gym. He worked with me and my nutrition and is able to lessen any muscles pains I have due to my age. He also works around injuries that I have had throughout my life:. And above everything else, he has become my friend because he actually cares about the people he works with
