What a great experience. While redoing my home, I had one room where I stored all the boxes. After setting up the rest of the house, this room ended up containing all the stuff I really didn't need but couldn't bring myself to discard. Jill recommended that organizing this room virtually would be a good option. She was right. Knowing that I was sentimental about many of the items in the room, Jill did not rush me into throwing things out. We were able to put items that I felt sentimental about into an interim box. After seeing the items over the week, I felt comfortable getting rid of them. Jill also gave me homework to do between sessions and followed up with valuable written tips, including ways to discard and donate items. Consequently, a job I thought would be very upsetting turned out to be pleasant and relaxing.

I am working hard on "chunking" my overwhelmingly cluttered apartment when it comes to organizing and cleaning. Jill came in and we approached my desk area with laser focus. Jill walked in and took a thorough look at the area and then did the most amazing thing: she sat down with me. We discussed what I was hoping to get out of our session. She had me close my eyes and visualize what I hoped my desk area to look like when we were finished. We spent about 3 minutes just breathing in calm and breathing out clutter. Honestly it set such a productive tone for the time we worked. The hours flew by and I was surprised at how much we accomplished. By the end of Jill's time with me my desk area was organized, with even some new procedures put into place. And the above and beyond, Jill checked in with me in a week to see how I was doing with them. I can't recommend Jill and One To Zen Organizing enough! Well worth every minute and cent!!!!!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer a free phone consultation so we can discuss your organizational needs and I can explain my process. I charge $100/hr and typically work in 4-hour sessions.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I always sit down with a new customer so we can discuss their goals. Then we walk around the room or space of interest and I ask many questions to be sure I understand the full picture. I then actively listen to the client - I want to be sure the person has plenty of time to communicate anything I need to know. Then, I create a customized solution based on our walk-through and conversation. Each client is different and so the strategy and pace is always different. I am also sure to explain my overall strategy to the client to make sure that we are on the same page and have shared expectations.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a a background in Organizational Behavior. I have been organizing for 9 years- 4 for other companies and 5 years as an owner of my organizing business. I am a member of NAPO (National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals) and The ICD (Institute of Challenging Behavior). I am President of the Washington, DC Metro Chapter where I was voted the 2021 Organizer of the Year. I am a Certified Professional Organizer(CPO®) and I also have Certificates in Household Management, Residential Organizing and Life Transitions with NAPO as well as Certificates of Study in ADHD & in Life Transitions & Clients Affected by CD (Chronic Disorganization) with ICD. I strongly believe in pairing education with my on-site organizing experience.
