Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: My photography style is mostly documentary. I like to fade into the background and capture the REAL moments... the laughter, the tears, the love that people express when they don't know that someone is there with a camera. Yes, I could pose people in flattering ways and that might result in a pleasing picture, but that isn't a real moment. That was something that I created and it won't mean much to the bride, groom, or whoever is in that picture. But when I photograph a couple during a heartfelt embrace, a father tearing up as he gives away his daughter, or any other the hundreds of personal moments which happen during a wedding day, those images will be treasured forever. There are times when I do coordinate things... like during formal portraits, but otherwise, I try to blend in like a normal wedding guest. The majority of my photographs are just beautiful, genuine moments. Weddings are amazing. It is one of the few times when a couple brings together all of their closest family and friends to celebrate love. I consider it a great honor and responsibility to document someone's wedding.

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

There are two pieces which I need in order to reserve a date for you: a contract and a deposit. The contract is simple. It basically just confirms for both of us what is included with your photography package. To keep things easy, everything is managed online. If you provide me with your email address and phone number, I can have one emailed to you in minutes. You can even sign it online. The deposit is either 50% or $500 (whichever is less). Deposits can be made via check or paid with a credit card online. If you wish to pay via credit card, just let me know and I'll email you an invoice. Remember that a date is not officially reserved until I have received both a signed contract and the deposit.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I got started as a wedding photographer almost accidentally. For years, I worked as the resident photographer at a lakeside resort. It was my job to capture vacationers having the time of their lives. A few years ago, I was asked to photograph a few weddings which occur at the resort. These couples already had their own photographers, but I was given permission to take pictures as well so the resort could use the images for their marketing. As a thank you, I would send my photographs to the newly-married couples. After receiving comments like "these are better than what our photographer gave us" and "wow, we wish we had hired you instead," I decided to start photographing weddings on my own.
