Introduction: Results are guaranteed. You will experience a noticeable change in your singing ability by the end of the first lesson or you don't pay! I teach both in person and online lessons. I have 25 years experience as a performer, recording artist, and songwriter. I've also sung in many TV and commercial spots. I understand what professional vocalists go through on an ongoing basis. At the same time I love working with new aspiring singers who wish to expand their voice. I work to create a supportive and comfortable environment so that you are assured to receive the greatest benefit and success. The voice is our most personal form of expression and everyone has some degree of judgment of their own voice. As someone who has spent a lifetime singing I am well aware of this. Even the most successful vocalists can struggle with doubt regarding their singing. My role is to help you understand your voice and learn to sing what it is you want to be able to sing with confidence. The lessons are tailored to your individual needs and goals as a singer. The lessons will enable you to increase your range, vocal power, tonal quality, vibrato, intonation, vocal riffs and runs, performance, consistency through vocal register breaks, and confidence! The methods I teach also help prevent vocal injury as well as heal any damage done through straining or improper technique. I love the reaction of my students after the first lesson when they feel a freedom in their voice they've not experienced before that moment. I love the creative collaboration when working on a song with a student and that connection as we explore what is possible together.

I appreciate that Shane does not offer one-size-fits-all lessons. He's been responsive about the ways I learn best, and he comes at the skill we're tackling with tips from a variety of directions. I find his feedback and demonstrations (via Zoom during our lessons) clear and helpful. And I appreciate his resources (e.g. drills/scales), respectful use of time, supportive approach and ability to make it normal that we at first struggle in the process of internalizing better technique. We are a good fit despite being on opposite coasts!

Shane is a cool guy!!!! I first went to him in October because I had vocal issues, his guidance help me understand how to have access to high notes with doing wired facial expressions or pushing my larynx up. I can hit B2 with ease and B5 with ease thanks to him. More improvement to come.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
One hour sessions: online and in studio $150 Block of four sessions: $500
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Online lessons are taught using a video chat service called Zoom which is like Skype but better quality and you get to record the lesson! It works on computers, tablets, and smartphones. All aspects of singing will be improved including range (this increases dramatically), tone, intonation, resonance, power, breath support, emotion, and performance. We begin the first session with an evaluation of the condition of your voice using a few vocal exercises which will allow me to assess any improper technique. The lessons are then tailored to your individual needs and goals as a singer. I will explain to you the physiology of the voice, or how we physically create sound. Each session begins with vocal exercises as these are the building blocks upon which vocal strength and excellence is attained. These are all designed to help you hear and understand how you are producing sound better. We do them in very specific ways which allow you to free up your voice so you stop blocking or straining. We then apply these and other techniques to the songs you wish to work on. So each session includes working on a song that you have chosen. This is what it's all about being able to sing how and what you want to sing! At the end of the session I will give you very specific areas to work on that we’ve discovered through the session. All in person lessons include a recording of the session to work with further and online lessons include a video of the lesson.

I have over 25 years professional singing experience as a performer, recording artist, and session singer. I've sung on numerous national and international ad campaigns such as VH1, Virgin Cola, The Academy Awards, and many others. I've written hundreds of songs. Featured songs for Disney and other clients.
