Introduction: Richard has more than two decades of experience performing in a wide variety of musical settings and styles - from playing solo classical guitar compositions for formal occasions like weddings and art shows - to playing guitar or bass in rock bands performing in pubs as well as large arenas. In the mid 2000's, Richard further enhanced his musical abilities as he studied Classical Guitar Performance at Arizona State University – while he continued to stay busy as a working musician/guitar instructor. I take great pride in my musical preparation and use of high quality equipment for all of my performances and lessons. With sufficient notice I am eager to learn new music requested for your occasion.

Rich has helped me improve my guitar and bass playing tremendously. I had a little experience before taking lessons from him, but he raised me to another level. I am now a gigging musician and I feel so much more comfortable and confident playing music because of what I learned from him. He can cover the whole spectrum for learners. Rich is a great teacher of the fundamentals and as well as advanced concepts in a variety of genres. He can show you how to build with the building blocks of music! Also, he is accommodating with his schedule, when he can be, which has been great for my crazy schedule.

I've been playing drums for over 30 years and recently picked up the guitar (i'd always had an interest in the songwriting process). I feel that I learned a great deal in a short time and Richard's lessons enabled me to progress rapidly. For example, he taught me correct finger positioning techniques for scale playing, some musical theory and composition techniques. It was fun too! If you are serious about doing things the RIGHT way from the start then this could well be the teacher for you.

Rich did an excellent job playing at our wedding. Ours was a small outdoor ceremony with only a few guests, and Rich's guitar playing created a nice, romantic mood before the ceremony began. He also worked with the ceremony schedule to provide music during various parts in the middle of the ceremony, and he even played a "first dance" song at the end for my wife and I to dance to.
