Robin was awesome to work with. From the start she was very attentive to detail and figuring out what it was I wanted as far as style and functionality. She met with me in person a total of about four hours over two weeks to talk through it and look at wood and stains and such. She came up with and drew up her own designs based on pictures I showed her. She was also very considerate when I mentioned I had chemical sensitivities and needed something as non-toxic as possible. She did her research and came up with products that looked great and were low VOC. She also was careful with cure times so I wasn’t exposed to any fresh offgassing with the bedframe when she installed it. Another “must” for me was that the bed be able to be taken apart, since we know we will move in the next few years. She planned it out herself and walked me through the process and left me instructions for the various parts. This was her first time working with those kinds of parts and she was very creative and resourceful. She was also great about sending pictures with updates on the progress, as well as asking my preference about certain design elements I hadn’t thought about. Most importantly, I’m in love with the final product. It’s the perfect mix between rustic and polished, and I find I like it more every day. A truly solid bedframe. It isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, that’s for sure! It’s going to last us years on end, and it’s so nice to not have to worry about inferior quality (which we had issues with buying online in the past!) since I was able to see every piece of wood and hardware that went into this project. Overall, quality for the price—I hit the jackpot. I admit I was a bit nervous about the final product since I’m one of her first customers and I didn’t have a lot to go on as far as past builds. But now I realize I’m lucky to be her customer so early on in her business, because in a few years, I wouldn’t be able to afford her! I honestly don’t know why I didn’t go with a custom bed before now, but I’m never going back to store bought. Love Love Love it. And so does my husband, so that’s a double seal of approval!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For a custom build I charge double the cost of materials plus a $50 fee for the design. For refinish work $50 minimum or double the cost of materials. Whichever is higher.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to find out exactly what they want and what they're looking for. How do they want it finished.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a third generation woodworker. My Grandfather and Father taught me how to build and do fine woodworking.
