Introduction: I am 100% dedicated to your child's progress! I will create an individualized tutoring plan that addresses your child's exact needs rather than follow a cookie-cutter program. Lessons are fun, and parents stay informed every step of the way. When appropriate, I also stay in contact with your child's teachers to make sure they see progress in the classroom as well. I am so lucky! I discovered my passion for teaching early in life, and I continue to feel that same enthusiasm for working with students of all ages to this day. We just love Mrs Messinger! She has been tutoring our 3rd grade daughter this year and we couldn't be more thrilled with the results. Our daughter has a mild reading disorder, which has caused her to struggle at school. She started the school year reading below her grade level, but with the help of Mrs Messinger she is now right on track and has exceeded the goals her teachers had set for her. The positive feedback from her school and jump in reading levels has been phenomenal. From the the first time you meet Mrs Messinger, her love of learning and children is apparent. She has a genuine interest in your child and wants them to succeed as much as you do. She has made my daughter feel so smart and special! We feel very fortunate that our daughter has been able to work with her and would highly recommend her to anyone.

Caryn provides instruction for my first grader in reading, writing and math. Her professional experience, warm heart and enthusiasm for teaching creates a perfect learning environment. We had a fabulous experience with Caryn over the summer. She made great progress with our son who has dyslexia in a short period of time. Caryn was always well prepared with quality lessons that incorporated our son's strengths to improve his weaknesses. He always left her feeling good about himself and really enjoyed the hands on/interactive activities incorporated throughout the session. We only left Caryn because of the long commute from our home which couldn't be sustained through the school year. We would highly recommend her tutoring services!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My fee is $40 per hour.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First, I speak with a parent to find out as much as I can about the specific area(s) of academic difficulty. Prior test scores and report card grades are helpful. Then we will discuss our goals for tutoring and arrange a mutually acceptable day and time to meet. At the first tutoring session, I will do an assessment and spend some time getting to know your child. From there, I will create individualized lessons that I believe will be the most effective in addressing your child's specific needs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I earned a Master of Education degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I have additional certification in the area of learning disabilities. I have been a teacher for over 25 years.
