What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My base rate is $60 per hour. However, depending on the customer's needs, many times I can offer a project discount.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I provide a free consultation to help me understand exactly what the customer needs as well as help the customer understand how I can help them. As part of the free consultation and based on the discussion, I create and send to the client an outline of what needs to be accomplished, who is responsible for each step, a timeline and quoted budget for the project. Once the client agrees and pays the deposit, I get to work! I regularly communicate with the client on every step of the process and if I need anything from them. The client's approval of each phase helps ensure the final product is exactly what the client wanted - or even better!
How did you get started doing this type of work?
Way back in 1993, a friend strongly encouraged my late husband and me to begin offering websites along with our other brand identity services. We were one of the first web design companies in Austin, Texas, and the company is now over 23 years old!
