VanPort Jazz

Introduction: VanPort Jazz is a local musical ensemble dedicated to maintaining the tradition of Big Band jazz. Over the past decade, the ensemble has evolved from a local community group focusing on early swing music, to its current roster of 17 amateur and semi-professional musicians playing a more eclectic book of some 300 charts. Over time, through regular rehearsals, the ensemble members have become a cohesive group with consistent musical expression in phrasing, style and presentation. This familiarization and camaraderie is cherished by the ensemble, which projects as a thoroughly enjoyable audience experience.
