FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
$30-40 per hour, paid by cash or check for each lesson. I also use the Venmo and Cash apps. The length of each lesson should be a minimum of 30 minutes, with a minimum fee of $20. I do charge per 10- or 15-minute intervals, but I also subtract time that I feel is not fairly charged, such as if we suddenly begin to talk at length away from the subject at hand. The rate mostly depends on where we would meet for tutoring sessions, and partly depends on the subject matter. IMPORTANT: CANCELLATIONS WITHIN 3 HOURS OF THE SCHEDULED TIME NEED TO BE CONFIRMED. If proper communication is not achieved, the $20 minimum charge applies. Thank you!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I first establish an understanding of what the student's needs and goals are, and then of how we can best meet those needs and accomplish those goals. The most important part for me is patience and compassion.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have three degrees: B.A. in Music Technology (1995), B.S. in Mathematics (2004), M.S. in Mathematics, Specializing in Math Education (2012, Ohio State). In 2004-2006, I taught middle school and high school algebra and geometry before studying math education.
