Tim is great at making things understandable for his students. My son really benefitted from Tim's teach ing and explanation of complex mathematical concepts.Oct 17, 2016Verified
Very dedicated and excited to teach. Always a positive and energetic attitude! I asked him to help me prepare for an upcoming ACT and working with him has helped me to feel more prepared. Overall a good teacher and connects with my learning style. Also, super flexible to my schedule. I 10/10 recommend.May 12, 2016Verified
Awesome tutor, really great availability, helped me raise my calculus grade a ton! Definitely recommend.Apr 22, 2016
Easily the greatest tutor/ TA I've had. He made business calculus something impossible for me to grasp to something that I have a solid understanding of strictly because of him, and math is easily my weakest subject. The best part was that he was always willing to help and genuinely care about you understanding.Apr 13, 2016
Tim was an outstanding instructor. I worked with him multiple times a week outside of class (during office hours and tutor room times). Each time he was ready to help explain and clarify any questions I had about the content. He would provide multiple ways to approach the problem until I understood the material and was comfortable with it. Tim also set up review sessions before exams to allow students to work through problems provided and ask questions. This was something that wasn’t required of him but really showed his students (myself included) that he cared. Tim has a true desire to teach students willing to learn and wants to see everyone succeed. Overall, his dedication to math and his students is what makes him an outstanding instructor and one I highly recommend.May 7, 2016
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?$30-40 per hour, paid by cash or check for each lesson. I also use the Venmo and Cash apps. The length of each lesson should be a minimum of 30 minutes, with a minimum fee of $20. I do charge per 10- or 15-minute intervals, but I also subtract time that I feel is not fairly charged, such as if we suddenly begin to talk at length away from the subject at hand. The rate mostly depends on where we would meet for tutoring sessions, and partly depends on the subject matter. IMPORTANT: CANCELLATIONS WITHIN 3 HOURS OF THE SCHEDULED TIME NEED TO BE CONFIRMED. If proper communication is not achieved, the $20 minimum charge applies. Thank you!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I first establish an understanding of what the student's needs and goals are, and then of how we can best meet those needs and accomplish those goals. The most important part for me is patience and compassion.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have three degrees: B.A. in Music Technology (1995), B.S. in Mathematics (2004), M.S. in Mathematics, Specializing in Math Education (2012, Ohio State). In 2004-2006, I taught middle school and high school algebra and geometry before studying math education.
