I had my front driveway and walkway tore out and replaced with new cement by Joe and his crew. They perform the job in one day they were very quick excellent work and extremely reasonably priced. I would recommend them highly to anybody!

Hired on Thumbtack

Joe showed up on time to do a good bid. From there not good. I agreed to him doing the job. He was to remove grass and dirt, move sprinklers, pour a 6 foot by 22 foot addition on driveway with a small retaining wall and repair a single 3X4 slab in front of my porch. He said they would do it the next day. At hire he asked for a deposit of almost half the job $. He said his credit card machine was broke. So i gave him a check(my mistake). His crew did show up the next day. They dug out the area by hand. Had to borrow shovels. The next day no show. Contacted Joe no response. Finally got back to me said would see if could get concrete tomorrow. Again no show i had to contact Joe. That evening at 7 he finnally contacted me said cant get concrete today(Friday ) I am concerned that he is not going to finish the job at all. He said that concrete is more $ on Saturdays he was trying to get me to pay more. I told him he needed to pay the money and finnish the job. Again Saturday night he text "No concrete today. Will finnish on Monday" Monday again no show i contact Joe. He responds with "its my grandmas funeral today." Tuesday his crew finnally shows up again. The job is horrible the wall is crooked in like 4 different ways crooked and uneven. The slabs are ok as long as they hold up. From this point Joe starts trying to collect payment. Sprinklers are not finnished their is overflow of cement in flower beds. They return the next day to do some clean up still dont ever finnish sprinklers had to borrow a sledgehammer to break up cement that had hardened in their wheel barrow so they can haul it away. Still being contacted by Joe about payment. I state i will leave a check for pick up the next day. (I dont believe that Joe is capable of completing the job and he has become agressive about payment ) He sends someone who is banging on the door at 6am to get a check. Do not use these guys! I suspect that either Joe sent in the worst crew he has to do my job or his company has gotten multiple fraudulent reviews from friends and family to raise his stars on Thumbtack. If i could post pictures i would.

Scott, I am responding to your review. First of all, communication is very important. Scott hired me to do the job, it was a small concrete area and small retaining wall that was requested to be done. First to start off with I gave Scott a very decent and affordable price because he was stating he was given a lot of high bids from other contractors. Relocating the sprinklers was not included in the bid, but I went ahead and did that for Scott. The retaining wall was bid as a BLOCK retaining wall. But he changed his mind and decided he wanted a SOLID CONCRETE wall instead. Even though I had already purchased the materials for the block wall. I went ahead and did as he asked and switched it from being a block wall to a concrete wall without charging extra or changing the given bid price. The first day we did the demolition which included removing the sod and dirt also hauling it away. The next day because of the request of change of the wall I had a mason guy scheduled to put the retaining wall up. Friday, like Scott stated we could not get any concrete, for those of who know, Fridays are a very busy day for Ready Mix company and keep in mind for three yards of concrete, IF you do get a spot it would be way late and nobody wants to wait and stay until 10 pm at night doing concrete. Like I told Scott, on Saturdays they do charge extra for concrete. For a very small job there isn't much profit, Scott didn't want to pay the extra charge for concrete on Saturday. Monday I contacted Scott that I had my grandmother's funeral, and Polynesian funerals aren't usually a two hour program. I couldn't believe he still insisted on me coming over to finish the job because of a family reunion he stated he had. We came the following day and finished the job. I talked to Scott's father in law, who was the main person of contact throughout this project. Throughout the project I only saw Scott twice, being less than five minutes. Every time I called he wouldn't answer, but texts back. Call me old school, I don't mind if you're busy, but I would like an actual conversation over the phone to get a better idea and explanation of what the customer is wanting or concerned about. Anyways when I had apologized to his father in law about the inconvenience about their reunion, he told me that there was no reunion at all, so Scott there was another lie. We did the work and completed the job. And the reason I had an employee come early to pick up the check (which wasn't at 6 am it was after 7 am) was because you had stood us up previously TWICE with our attempts to collect payment. I just am wondering why you didn't call me to come and review and look at the things you didn't like. I don't and have never had a problem with communicating with my customers and fixing issues or making sure that the job is completed and my customer is satisfied with the finished job. My employees had said you came to the job twice while I wasn't present, and they felt as if you came off a little racist based off of your attitude. And remember I didn't say it, my employees said it. And you accuse that my reviews are done by friends and family, be careful with that because that's public slandering. I am still willing to come out there and correct whatever you're not satisfied with. Scott, I have been doing this for over 30 years. I have 30 plus years of experience. It's too bad that you don't and haven't communicated very well through this process. Just within the little time that I've known you, it seems that it isn't just the job but you're an unhappy person in general. Being that type of person who wants to sit in the house and look through the curtain feeling some type of way and not saying anything at all with what you're unhappy with but then choose to go on social media and put the person on blast with them not even aware of your upset feelings. I like people that are straight forward, when they dislike something they let me know, it's helpful because it let's me know where their mindset is at and how they're feeling. Scott, you need to take a week off of work at Costco, take a vacation. Learn to communicate a little better, communication is key. Scott, sorry I'm not the Polynesian kid that beat you up in grade school and took your lunch money away. Scott I might put together the 15 people that you assume to be my "friends and family" that gave me my reviews, as a choir and go sing to you, "Don't Worry, Be Happy." Might even add your father in law to the choir, he was VERY nice. One love.
