Introduction: I have been involved in construction and primarily in cabinetry and installation for over 40 years. I have worked in the cabinet rooms for Ethan Allen furniture and Frank Chase Interiors installing custom cabinets like Rutt Custom Cabinets to the basic hardware store stock cabinet units in both new construction and home remodeling. I have 40 plus years experience in the residential building trades. My experience includes, bathrooms, kitchens, entertainment centers, and other aspects of interior carpentry, the trim, and the utilities necessary for your appliances to function properly. I mostly enjoy to see the transformation of a kitchen, which is the heart of any home. The kitchen is the most important room in the house and should be a beautiful and uplifting location in ones home. That's the room where most families begin and end their day. The kitchen should be a joy to be in whether it is to prepare a meal, or to enjoy that meal with the company of others. Nice looking cabinetry or trim can make any room both functional and a pleasant place to be.

Terry installed an entire kitchen for me in a renovated house. He was on time and conducted himself professionally. His meticulous manner made the project go very smoothly. Terry was very friendly and nice, but I am worried that the doors where he replaced the hinge could more a little and then not close properly. There were only 3 hinges, but he didn’t put set screw in until I called it to his attention to it. Even then after he left, I noticed that he did not put set screw in the very low hinge. It was difficult to reach. The doors on my pantry are extremely close so that if one of them moved even a fraction of an inch they will bump into each other and not close. As far as the towel rack is concerned he put new ‘plugs’ in one side and when I asked him to change the other side he said that it was secure enough. As far as the price is concerned when I called him I told him that there were 5 hinges and 1 towel rack. He said that it would cost 150. Since there were only 3 hinges I feel That the cost should have been adjusted to reflect the fact that there were only 3 broken hinges. When Terry left, I felt very worried about the doors moving a bit and bumping into each other. Unfortunately rather than feeling relieved that the doors were fixed, I feel very worried that they will move even just a fraction and bump into each other. Would I hire him again? The fact that I am now feeling anxious about this project rather than relieved, tells me that I don’t think that I would hire him Again, but I do want to repeat that he was very nice and friendly.

Terry is versatile! He replaced downspouts, repaired a door and installed light fixtures. And for a final act, put together a dog crate for me. I have more demanding projects planned (cabinet making, woodwork restoration and rebuilding a back porch) and am confident Terry will do a great job. Reasonable rate, on time service, quality work and a nice guy. You can't go wrong. Hire Terry.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I will either bid the job outright if it is a large and involved progect. For smaller service call jobs I charge by the hour. $150 dollars for the first hour and at $37.50 per hour after that. These charges are negotiable depending on the travel time and complexity of the project.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Meeting in person to listen to what the client wants to accomplish. Together making a plan to bring it to completion.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Over 40 years involved with cabinetry and trim carpentry. Started in the cabinet room of Ethan Allen, and then Frank Chase interiors. Have installed cabinets and remodeled homes from Marco Island to Jamestown New York. The last 20 years have been dedicated to installing custom kitchen for various designers in the Pittsburgh area.
