Introduction: I am a teacher with 12 years of classroom experience offering private lessons in voice, brass, beginning guitar, ukulele and piano in my Wheat Ridge home. I am a multi-instrumentalist who sings and plays trombone, guitar, ukulele and piano.
As a teacher, I have coached my students to Colorado All-State Chorus and Band festivals. My students have received superior ratings at Solo-Ensemble and Large Group Festivals and have successfully auditioned for college ensembles and Denver School of the Arts. I have also prepared students for college entrance auditions or recordings as well as auditions for musical theater roles or companies.
I have 12 years of experience teaching middle and high school Chorus and Band, and have been the music director for high school productions including In the Heights, West Side Story, and Grease. I can teach all styles of vocal music, including classical, jazz, a capella and musical theater!
I love building my students' skills in music in an encouraging, fun way! I have a great ability to bring out the potential in my students on their instruments or with their voices.

I was a student of Mrs. Sakanai and I cannot praise her enough for the experience. She's got a passion for what she does and passes that passion onto others. The best music teacher I've ever had.

I can't speak highly enough of Katie as a vocal teacher. I have noticed a huge change for the better in my singing in just a short time. Her knowledge is immensely helpful. She is also very patient and kind, which is a huge plus with vocal lessons in my mind. I recommend her very highly.

Katie taught singing to my four kids, ages between 4 and 9. She is wonderful with the kids and let them choose some songs they liked and made the entire hour fun and engaging. We are moving and I'm sad to not have the kids continue with Katie! I highly recommend her :).
