FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I usually set up a time to meet, and look or talk about the project. It's always good to see what we are working on beforehand. Then, generally I will draw out any plans needed for the project, and get them approved by the homeowner. After that, we figure our proposal and send to the customer. At that time, we make any final changes and proceed with the project.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My education in home building and remodeling goes back to 1980. As a freshman in high school, half of my school day consisted of studying building trades under the direction of Kenneth Swinford at Mt. Vernon ISD. As a senior there, my hand drawn floor plans were selected, and our class built the home from the ground up. The home was sold at the end of the school year. All work, concrete, walls, electrical, plumbing, a/c, roofing, cabinets, etc. were performed by our class. I have been in this line of work ever since. I specialized in custom cabinetry for 12 yrs. and custom furniture for 4 years before settling back into general contracting.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have been doing carpentry ever since junior high school. I remember building my first 2 houses as a teen using hammer and nails. I have enjoyed building and repairing household projects for over 30 years. I really take pride in the projects I'm hired to do, and enjoy doing them.
