Hired on Thumbtack

He seemed really eager to start, but ended up taking 3 weeks to do a wood fence. Never knew when he was going to show up. Finally finished on 11/14/17 while I was working and put a hook and eye on the outside of fence so just anyone could walk up and go into yard. Fixed it my self.

Carlos came for a fence job and immediately went on and on about wanting to do our patio. He came back next day with a print out from Home Depot to tell me how much supplies would be and then added labor. It sounded a little high but we really didn’t know but I liked his personality, so my husband said go ahead. He then asked if I just wanted to handshake or a contract. A contract, but it was about three lines I had to fill in both his and my name and I had to write a description of the job. There was no company name or license number and when I asked for a copy he said he’d bring me one tomorrow. I should’ve known right then, but I figured maybe he just didn’t have the business side down.He never gave me a copy. I didnt think it meant he didn’t have a clue how to install a fence. Over the next two weeks he came and went and we just shook our heads every time. My husband who is a home builder had to go out and move two of the posts because they were a good 2” out of line and then he decided to cut all the posts even because the fence line was going up and down from post to post. And then when it came down to putting in the self closing gates for the pool I just wanted to cry. They don’t close and the poles not straight so it looks hideous and the bright silver “self closing” latch that doesn’t close, looks hideous on my black chain link and the gate is set 2” lower than the bottom of the fence line!!! Oh yeah and he didn’t even fill in the post holes. My husband, being the kindhearted person that he is, paid him. He told me he just wanted him out of there and not to worry he can fix it all. But the whole reason we hired someone is because he didn’t have the time.
