Introduction: At Illusions DJ's our motto is " we're beyond music-we specialize in fun. When you want DJ's who have uncompromising professionalism, choose us. We've been keeping people on the dance floor since 1989 & we serve the entire Tri-State area. Other services that we offer are Karaoke Showtime, Magic for children's parties or a walk around Magician for your cocktail hour. Also we have a Balloon sculptor. We are also a member of N.A.M.E. ( National association of mobile entertainers ). We also carry liability insurance, so that we can work in any venue. And last but not least, all of our DJ's have a minimum of at least 10 years in the business. I myself have been in the DJ entertainment business for 40 years. It is very important to me to give the customer what he or she wants. When I have a consultation with a client they usually tell me that they have already talked to other DJ's and they tell me what they will do for them. Most DJ's will do that because they have a set way of doing things and it makes it easier for them. Here at Illusions we ask " What would you like ?" Lets face it, it is your Wedding or affair. I give 110 percent to all of our customers. When you are planning a Wedding or special event, it should be the way you invision it, not the way the DJ wants. we offer unlimited consultations so that when we have everything planned out, we are like family when your special date arrives. Basically it comes down to one thing, Customer Service !!! We give the Customer what they want, and that is what we strive for here at Illusions.

John,along with his staff not only made our wedding memorable and a blast,John went over and beyond too find songs,walk us through everything from beginning too end. Not once did we have too hesitate about the professionalism that he brought with him. Great prices,extremely friendly, and a master with music. There is no negativity with the staff. Smiles and a great time. I'd do it over a hundred times. Great company and professionalism. Family and friends have used him. Every time,I've been at the events,I want to dance all night long. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Other than Weddings I have a Design your Party format to go by. Illusions 1 is the Perfect choice for small parties and events with A " No Frills " approach. Just Great Music, Fun & a all around good time. Illusions 2 adds class to your affair with all the great music and fun of illusions 1 plus accent lighting that puts your guests " In the Mood " to dance the night away. Illusions 3, This is basically a Wedding package which has everything the first two packages have plus this package has 2 DJ's one to MC and one to choreograph the music and lighting effects. Also both DJ's are in Tuxedos. There basically are no extras in this package. It comes with an upgrade lighting package. The only thing you can add to this package are props.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Usually I set up a consultation with the person having the event, or the Bride and Groom. I find out there likes and dislikes and what they expect from me, also I never promise anything I can't deliver. Remember there are people out there who will promise you anything to get your business and on the day of the affair they get amnesia and forget about everything you discussed with them. I'm very up front with my clients and if I can't do something they ask I just tell them I can't do it. Be upfront and honest and you will never go wrong.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As far as the magic, I took classes when I was a teenager and constantly was going to magic conventions. As far as. being a DJ I worked with many when I was younger and was constantly taking notes on what to do and what NOT to do. Being a DJ is not just knowing your equipment but knowing music. In other words what to play, and what not to play. You look at the demographics of the room. Your not going to play Hip-Hop at a retirement party or 50's music at a sweet 16. It comes down to commonsense and believe it or not most people don't have it. And most of all you have to be a People Person in this industry.
