Thumbtack CustomerJan 17, 2018
I enjoyed working with him very much. He's very kind and patient. When asking questions he'll go in depth to help one better understand the topic as well as why you're learning how to do the problems and where the formulas come from.May 29, 2017
Is incredibly helpful in providing clear and concise explanations.May 28, 2017

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I have no system, I work with each client individually.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I like to sit down and talk with them for a while to get acquainted and put them at ease. I don't want students to feel any pressure from me to perform and I don't want them to be afraid to ask questions, no matter how stupid they may think their questions are. I don't want them to feel I am judging them, because I'm not. I try to make the sessions a pleasant experience.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I graduated from Kalamazoo College with a BA in Chemistry in 1972. I did 4 years of military service in the USAF and then went back to school, receiving an MS in Chemistry from Central Michigan University in 1978 and a PhD from Michigan State University in 1984. I have been doing operations analysis work, mostly for the US Navy, for the past 34 years. During that time I have tutored students at many levels (grade school through high school) in both DC and Alexandria, VA. I concentrate on mathematics and science tutoring which is where my training lies.
