FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I can be flexible on my price depending on circumstances. I charge a flat rate with no additional fees.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to sit down and talk with new customers for a while to get acquainted and put them at ease. I don't want customers to feel any pressure from me to perform and I don't want them to be afraid to ask questions, no matter how stupid they may think their questions are. I don't want customers to feel I am judging them, because I'm not. I try to make the sessions a pleasant experience. In short, I am assessing whether or not it looks like we will communicate well.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from Kalamazoo College with a BA in Chemistry in 1972. I did 4 years of military service in the USAF and then went back to school, receiving an MS in Chemistry from Central Michigan University in 1978 and a PhD in Chemistry from Michigan State University in 1984. I have been doing operations analysis work, mostly for the US Navy, for the past 34 years. During that time I have tutored students at many levels (grade school through high school) in both DC and Alexandria, VA. I concentrate on mathematics and science tutoring which is where my training lies.
