Introduction: Reiki is a Japanese form of energy healing that reduces stress, anxiety and so much more! Erin Ryan, CRMT is the owner of Crystal Lake Reiki and is a member of the International Association of Reiki Professionals (IARP) and the International Association for Reiki Training (ICRT) and offers 30-minute, 60-minute, 90-minute and 2-hour Reiki sessions. She is also a Reiki teacher for McHenry County College and teaches Reiki Level 1, 2 and 3 (Master Teacher) at her business located just off of Route 14 in Crystal Lake. Crystal Lake Reiki also hosts monthly Reiki/Energy Shares and offers classes to become a Reiki practitioner. Reiki is a beautiful healing art, as it gets you exactly what you need when you need it, whether physical, emotional or spiritual! Why I enjoy the work that I do: My passion is helping others to heal! There is nothing more amazing than watching someone come in anxious, unhappy, sad, depressed, and completely lost, only to leave feeling more relaxed and at peace than they have in months (sometimes years). I sought the help of Crystal Lake Reiki during a very stressful time in my life. I don't know anyone that has experienced reiki and wasn't sure what to expect. I was greeted warmly by the owner Erin, and brought into a very relaxing room, I thought I was going to get some kind of massage. I laid on a massage table, closed my eyes, precious energy stones were placed in my hands and at different points of my body. Erin explained that she uses a few different methods to help me release stored up negative energy and how that energy negatively impacts our mental, emotional and physical health. I was told I could share what I was experiencing throughout the session or just to relax. I choose to close my eyes and relax. I have had about 7 sessions and I feel so much less stressed and more in control of my emotional health. It took about 3 sessions for me to notice the subtle and gradual changes. I am now not bothered by the little things, I'm not stressing out about things I can't control. I usually fall into a deep sleep during my sessions and sometimes I can see the past hurts being let go. In many ways this feels like a massage for my soul. I still don't fully understand Reiki, but I am thankful for Erin and the peace her sessions have brought me. I recommend Crystal Lake Reiki to everyone ,if your feeling any physical, emotional or mental anguish it's worth trying for a few sessions.

My first-ever Reiki session was with Erin about two months ago and since then I've had three more -- each unique and each has resulted in a sense of healing, inspiration and gratitude. Erin was very welcoming and supportive from the first meeting. She's listened thoughtfully and responded helpfully when I've had questions. Erin beautifully balances compassion and insight with a sense of skill and appropriate authority that puts one at ease in her care.

What can't I say about Erin? She is the kindest, most genuine person I have ever met. She has helped me through so much. When I first started having sessions with her I was very unhappy, exhausted from work and unfulfilled in life. Her insite and kind words guided by the universe give you the opportunity to connect with something deep inside yourself especially for those open to change.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After being contacted by a customer, a Master Reiki Practitioner will answer any questions and set up a time for a session. The client is asked to come a few minutes early for their first Reiki session to fill out a short consent form, discuss any specific concerns and to answer any additional questions that they have. After the session, the client is offered a glass of water and an opportunity to discuss the session as well as set up a follow up appointment. About a week after the session their Master Reiki Practitioner will also send a follow up e-mail, text, or phone call to see how they are doing.
