David Bernot (Saxophone-Woodwinds-Composer)

Introduction: My name is David Bernot. I am a local Denver musician/teacher finishing my studies at the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music for an intensive major in saxophone studies and jazz music/composition. I look to teach saxophonists, beginning woodwind players, and composers who are inspired to play either in school or as a gigging musician. I enjoy sharing the knowledge I have acquired through my career so far. I can also specialize in preparing for auditions for region and state bands on saxophone. About David Bernot As a freelance musician, I play all styles of music I can, from jazz as a sub with the Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra or in a variety of small combo groups, musicals at the Parker Arts Center (West Side Story and Singing in the Rain) as a pit musician playing saxophone, flute and clarinet, and in dance bands such as Los Lunaticos (Merengue/Salsa) and Trevor Jones Band (Funk). With these groups I've played in many Colorado venues, including Cervantes (Other Side and Masterpiece Ballroom), Fox Theater, Dazzle Jazz Club Restaurant and Lounge, as well as others. I use my experience as both a musician and a student to teach lessons on saxophone as well as beginner lessons on my woodwind doubles (flute, clarinet, bassoon) and can also offer instruction in composition/arranging. In addition to my performance experience, I have also won auditions for a number of spots, both in high school and college, for classical and jazz music including three years of All State musician spots in my home state Arizona, and winning the jazz solo competition at the Lamont School of Music, two years in a row. I've dedicated my life to music and want to use that dedication to teach and spread my love of music to my students and inspire creativity as well as music professionalism.
