We love Jean and New Song. My daughter is 8 and just starting singing lessons and Jean has been wonderful. I can't say enough good things about her and about the school. It's fun and casual but my daughter is learning a lot. Perfect!May 11, 2018Verified
Two of my daughters have taken lessons at New Song Studio..One of my daughters has taken acting lessons and the other takes Voice and Piano. I cannot say enough good things about New Song Studio. Jean is a very patient and encouraging instructor. My daughters have learned a lot from her and gained confidence in the process. Highly recommend!Sep 19, 2015
Jean is by far the best vocal coach that I have ever worked with. Beyond just her overall knowledge of voice, she is so versatile and able to adapt her teaching style to any genre. I've sang classical, jazz, and pop with her (and I know she's done many other genres with other students) and I love that she can so easily coach me through whatever piece I bring before her. I've gained about an octave of vocal range since I started working with her and I can effortlessly sing through 3 to 4 hour performances using the vocal techniques that she has taught me. I can't say enough good things about Jean and I think the Estill vocal method she teaches is an incredible approach to studying the voice.Sep 20, 2015

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I charge $100 a month for 4 - 30 minute lessons or $200 a month for 4 - 60 minute lessons. Individual lessons are $30 for 30 minutes and $60 for 60 minutes. I charge $100 for a 90 minute audition prep package which includes a video of your audition material.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I like to schedule a complimentary "test drive" with all new students. At this meeting, we compare the student's current ability and musical goals with my teaching knowledge and methods to see if I can help them achieve those goals in a manner suitable to the student. If we are a good fit, I will prepare a custom "plan of action" to jump start the learning process.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have a BA in music education. My principal instrument is voice and my secondary is piano. I am a certified K-!2 music teacher. The majority of my public school experience included high school concert choir, musical theater and competitive show choir. I am currently in my 22nd year of teaching private voice, piano and acting lessons. I teach the internationally renowned Estill Vocal Craft in my studio which gives my students the tools needed to perfect all singing styles. My piano and acting instructional methods vary according to each student and their goals.
