- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Master's in Entrepreneurship and my MBA, with a training and hospitality background. I am often in front of large groups of people in public speaking role. I learned how to read and understand guests' needs in the restaurant industry. This actively listening approach helps me learn about couples to make sure their ceremony is personal.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My cousin had a difficult time finding an officiant for her wedding. I was not certain that my work schedule would allow me to attend (I used to travel 75% of the year). However, I did research on becoming an officiant and volunteered to officiate as a backup plan. After that, I stuck with the idea and it has been an extremely enriching hobby!
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Make sure that your personalities match and you feel comfortable with your officiant.
