Introduction: Hi there! My name is Rachel. I grew up in Pennsylvania and spent my whole childhood there. I attended Penn State for college, and then I moved to northern Virginia for a job in Washington, DC in 2008. The busy-ness of the city exhausted me, so I pursued a job in West Virginia and finally moved out to the country in 2015! I'm so lucky to have my wonderful husband, Andrew, who consistently supports me, my dreams, and my love of photography! We have an adorable daughter, Ella, and three sweet (and a little crazy) dogs and one silly cat who keep us busy. When we have a free weekend, we love hiking, doing mud runs and obstacle races, and going on adventures! I still have my “day job” which I enjoy, but I LOVE photography – it’s a job that I enjoy and it never feels like work to me! I enjoy all kinds of photography, but engagement photos are my favorite, and my love for weddings is growing exponentially! I’ll travel to your location of choice for your perfect shoot. During your shoot, I’ll provide some direction; however, I encourage fun, candid photos to capture your true spirit. I love being behind the camera and capturing magical moments for those celebrating special occasions… and what’s better than celebrating love?! Not only do I understand being on a tight budget and try to accommodate when I can, but I genuinely enjoy connecting with my clients and becoming friends! Having a good connection with my customers allows me to better understand their photography needs and helps me to create photos they love. I love capturing a moment that strikes a specific emotion. Whether it's a moment that takes your breath away or brings a tear to your eye, I love being able to capture a cherished moment that holds your gaze just a little bit longer. My favorite part of photography is when I give my customers their photos. I get so excited about the final photos after it all comes together, and I can't wait to share them with those for whom they were taken! I had Rachel as my photographer for my engagement pictures, and I couldn't be happier with our photos. The pictures turned out to be so much more than I ever could have hoped for! I was looking forward to having 5-6 really great photos to chose from, and ended up with over 50! I never imagined I'd have too many beautiful photos to chose from! Rachel really took the time to listen to the idea and feel of what we were looking for, and had so many great of ideas of her own. I was very impressed with how creative she is, and she really has an eye for the lighting and ways to make your picture be the best it can be. My fiance isn't the most photogenic, but Rachel made us feel comfortable/at ease and made the entire experience fun! We had 4-5 different locations where we wanted pictures, and she took her time at each one-never rushing us or checking time. After taking all of our photos, she did some editing and mailed me a CD with all of our photos (originals and edited photos) in about a week. Rachel is extremely talented and I'm so thankful we had her to take our photos!!

FAQs

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Couples and engagement photo shoots start at $300. Prices include travel within 20 miles, time spent taking photos, time editing photos, and a CD/DVD or USB drive of images mailed to you after editing. For travel further than 20 miles, an additional fee may apply.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I prefer email as the initial form of communication, so the customer can describe in detail what they're looking for and I can determine if I'm the right fit for you. If we determine I'm a good fit for what you're looking for, I'd love to chat on the phone to discuss your event more and set up all the details (date, time, and location). I'll confirm the details via email after we chat, as well as a reminder a few days before the event.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
After studying Visual Communications for a short period in high school, my interest in photography grew. I've completed in-person and online courses to improve my "photographer's eye," technique, and methods. I continue photography as a hobby and passion and am always trying to learn new information and improve my skills.
