Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Along with my extensive education, I have a deep passion for music and for teaching that, when combined, creates a contagious enthusiasm for learning. My students want to do well, and it's not because they are afraid of what will happen if they don't. Rather, I inspire them to reach for more and be their best! There are so many things I love about my job. The most exciting for me is when I see my students start to discover how much there is to learn about music, and then see their desire to push forward and learn all they can. Of course, this is a process that happens over and over again, which is why learning is so great! I also love the interaction I have with my students. A private piano teacher has a special relationship with students they teach over the years, and it is something I cherish.

Heidi is seriously one of the best things that has ever happened to me in my music career. She taught two of my three collegiate level piano classes and made a world of difference in my playing, overall musicianship, and relationship with music in general. Her genuine enthusiasm, impressive expertise, and constant professionalism are just a few of the wonderful things that she has to offer as a teacher. You can't go wrong hiring Heidi!

Heidi was my piano teacher for my first two years of college. In those two years, my piano playing improved more than I could have imagined. Heidi is a gifted communicator. She knows exactly how to speak with each one of her students as an individual. She knows how to give helpful feedback and to encourage them to actually practice. Heidi is a great pianist and an even better teacher and any student studying with her is very lucky to be her pupil.

Before taking lessons with Heidi, my technique was very poor and I struggled with piano fundamentals. Heidi helped me improve greatly and gave me easy techniques to implement into my practice regimen that caused me to improve immensely. I had always disliked classical music, but Heidi taught me to appreciate the music, and now I even listen to classical music for enjoyment. Overall, Heidi is positive, fun, and extremely talented. I was very pleased with her teaching method and always looked forward to my piano lessons. I am extremely grateful to have had her as a teacher.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I'm currently still working on my DMA, so I'm in the academic environment and am kept up to date in the happenings of the piano world. I am also a member of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), as well as the Kansas City Music Teachers Association (KCMTA) which hold conferences and workshops that I attend. Since piano teaching and performance is a field I love, I spend a lot of my "leisure" time reading up on these topics as well.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I have always wanted to be a teacher. Throughout the years I wanted to teach HS English, coach basketball, and teach HS choir, but my passion for teaching has always been constant. Every time I finish a lesson or a class that I have taught I come out feeling more energized than when I began. My whole family is musical. My mom was my high school choir teacher, and 3 of my 4 siblings have received music degrees in college. Growing up, music was a huge part of our life! I was interested in many areas growing up, and spent my high school years focusing on basketball, but shifted my focus once I got to college and have given the piano everything I have since then!
