Introduction: My students regularly set and achieve goals for themselves. Each month they are given progress updates where they self-assess, as well as give me an instructor assessment. We plan their lessons to help them reach their goals efficiently. I love helping students to learn; there is truly nothing that compares to the experience of watching someone make a connection in their musical study. Helping students to progress past the limits they set for themselves is EXHILARATING!

I went to Sarah for help in honing my singing and sightreading skills in preparation for an audition. I spent six weeks having lessons with her. From day one, she knew how to determine what I needed to work on and came up with a gameplan for me. She was always prepared for my lessons and extremely supportive along the way. By the end, I was able to do things I would never had been able to without Sarah's help, was much more confident in my signing and sightreading skills, and knew how to continue preparing for my audition on my own. She used techniques I had not used in other voice lessons which were very effective for me and my voice. I would recommend Sarah for any experience level and any singing-related need.

My daughter had no formal voice instruction before seeing Sarah for voice lessons. Sarah really helped my daughter feel more comfortable singing by herself. She went from not singing in front of people to successfully singing her first solos last school year! Her technique has improved as she is learning to sing in formal settings. Sarah is an amazing voice coach! When my daughter got her first lead role, Sarah taught her ways to expand her range and accomplish more than she would have accomplished alone. The show was a success due in large part to Sarah's coaching. As an accomplished singer and educator, she's a wonderful role model for teens. I highly recommend her!

Three lesson lengths offered: 30, 45, and 60 minutes. Charge is $30, $45, and $60, respectively.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor of Music from James Madison University, a Master of Music from the University of Michigan, and hold a Virginia Teaching License. I am an active performer with 15+ years of singing experience.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have always been a musician- becoming a teacher was a happy surprise! I was asked to coach a family friend who was preparing for an audition, and I loved it! I love teaching and making connections with kids. Their energy is contagious.
