John Duke of Animal House came through for us in a big way, providing full pet service in a big house full of complicated cats for over a week. It was great to be able to check in regularly from overseas and get detailed updates. We will call on Animal House again!Mar 4, 2015
We had two Parrots that John watched over while we were out of town. We were very pleased that for the 5 days we were gone because he made sure that they had some periodic company, took them out of their cages (they are very friendly), made sure they had water and food. Great job, we would have John help us in this way again.Mar 4, 2015

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? The pricing isn't complicated. It is mostly based on the time needed for a particular visit. I start with a base fee of $15 for a 30 minute visit, but with the travel time to and from the owners' house, that really means $15 for 50-60 minutes of time. Shorter visits are less, longer visits are more, depending on what the owners want. There are some extra small fees for giving meds, or for caring for several pets, but those are gone through with the owners before assignments are finalized.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have taken one online course on pet sitting, I have read three books on it, and I am currently going through a manual for pet sitting certification through Pet Sitters International.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?On the one hand, I had been dissatisfied with the work I had been doing. I also found myself in need of more income. Some people who knew of my love of animals and who had used pet sitters before said they thought that kind of work would be a perfect match for me.
