Introduction: Family friends, who owned a kennel, were show groomers and handlers, were my mentors. My training in grooming was taken from another friend who also was a show groomer. I have owned a pet services business in the US since 1979. My experience is, without a doubt, my most important asset. These same mentors also trained pets for obedience and behavior problems. As a line-trainer my mentors and my experience have given me tools that are insightful, targets, breed needs, personality traits, and family dynamics in bringing about a family trained pet. The diversity and combination of owners and pets, getting to a point of extended community and caring for both the pet and the family. I love the very personal relationship I build with the pets. They grow to expect that the time we spend will result in much give and take, but non the less, ends a renewed pet and a happy owner. The one secret I share with my animal clients is a trembling pet entering the store watching their owner leave with a sad worried face, and the minute they are out of sight relax and give me a kiss. Pets like kids sure like to play their parents.
