Introduction: I am an estate planning attorney, and I help people with the preparation of wills, trusts, powers of attorney, living wills, and other legal health care documents. I also help families through the probate process after their loved ones have passed.
I think I distinguish myself from other estate planning attorneys by making house calls to my clients. I am a member of the Arkansas Bar Association, and I am licensed to practice law in Arkansas.
Since receiving my law degree, I have worked in the Trust Department for the Twin City Bank in Little Rock, Arkansas, and I have been in private legal practice. Most recently, I was employed in the Office of Chief Counsel for the Arkansas Department of Human Services.
I obtained my undergraduate B.S. degree in accounting from Arkansas State University in 1980. I went to law school at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and obtained my juris doctorate in 1983. I also obtained my master of laws in taxation from Southern Methodist University in 1984.
After receiving my master of laws in taxation, I knew that I wanted to get into the estate planning area of the law. I feel it is important for attorneys to focus on a limited area of the practice of law. It is hard to keep up with the changes in the tax laws, so I do not try to practice in other areas. Therefore, I am current on any changes in the law of estate planning.
I am an active board member of the Family Network, Inc., which fosters the well-being of families through parenting, education, and support. I regularly volunteer with Meals on Wheels, where I make a delivery of meals once a week. I also donate platelets every other week at the Blood Center of the Ozarks located in Springdale, Arkansas.
I was born and raised in Fordyce, Arkansas. In high school, I played quarterback for the Fordyce Redbug football team.
I am active in the Methodist church and the lives of my daughters. I also enjoy playing tennis and running. My pastimes include attending all the Arkansas Razorback athletic events possible.
