I paid Jeff Biddle $1,000. My wife passed away in the middle of our bankruptcy. I asked for him to continue. He ignored all communication for weeks. Jeff asked for $1,600 to continue. I'm out $1,000. I will be writing a letter to the State Bar of AZ PLEASE BE AWARE!!!!!!!!!

Not true. He paid $1,000 for the initial retainer on a chapter 13 with his wife and she passed before the meeting of creditors. I called to find out why and he told me and asked for more time so I called the trustee and asked for another meeting of creditors. He failed to appear again and the case was dismissed. We spoke again after that on the phone. Four months later he calls and wants to file a new case, a chapter 7, which is $1,600. He doesn’t want to pay and now he wants all of the $1,000 back from the first filing despite that I’ve already done tons of work on that old case and appeared at two hearings for him.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I don’t know if I’m the cheapest but I’d worry about hidden charges from lawyers that are cheaper than me. I honestly don’t know how a lawyer can charge $50 for a bankruptcy when the filing fee is over $300!!!
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We meet and, if you like me, pay me and we’re off to the races. If you need your case filed today, usually that’s not a problem.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I went to law school at Emory University, a top-tier law school located in Atlanta, GA. After graduating, I started working at a local law firm as a divorce/family law attorney and had a very high caseload. While it gave me great experience, it was hard to give focused attention to any one client. That is why I started my own practice. I get to know my clients and I’m available when they need me and I can devote the attention they need to get the best results for them.
