FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My minimum is $25 an hour, and am willing to be flexible if the client is driving to me.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to develop a no-pressure zone up front. I do not want anyone to feel nervous because it will reflect in their singing. So step one is doing a little ice breaker. Once we have reached a level of comfort with one another, I then ask the student what he or she wants to accomplish. I want to know their short term and longer term goals. If they are unsure, I can help identify some. I like to get to know their musical style, (what artists they listen to, what songs they like to sing) and get and idea for their tone of voice. I always let the student ask me any questions they may have, and sing for them so they can hear my voice and have that as a reference while I'm teaching. Most importantly I like to make the lesson fun!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have my Bachelor of Music in Piano and Vocal Jazz Performance, alongside having 20 years of Classical Piano and Vocal training. I have sung in many choirs, including the Schola Cantorum at the University of Arkansas, and currently the Gospel Choir at the Baptist Church of Venice in Los Angeles. I have 4 years of being a recording artist/performer as Jackie Rain. I have performed at local LA venues such as the El Rey Theatre, The Roxy, The Troubadour, The Satellite, and have played at Music Festivals such as Coachella, Echo Park Rising, Lightning in a Bottle, and Electric Forest.
