What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I do not have a complicated pricing system. My services and fees are listed on my website: kdrobanlaw.com
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm always taking CLEs to learn new legal developments in my fields of practice.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
My three loves in life are theater, writing and research; law perfectly combines all three. I get to spend my days doing what I love (acting/litigating in the courtroom, lending calm to any crisis), writing (motions, briefs, petitions) and research (legal issues that arise).
What types of customers have you worked with?
My practice is nearly fifty percent family law and fifty percent criminal defense. I predominantly handle post-decree matters (custody, parenting time, child support issues) and in criminal law, mostly complex death penalty litigation and felonies.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I represented a father who wished to relocate to Florida but he didn't want his children to stay in Arizona; he had a job transfer and didn't want to be a long-distance parent. Mother, incidentally, did not work or have family ties in Arizona. After much litigation, he won and now has his children with him in Florida.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
A customer looking to hire me should ask themselves whether they want personal service, unorthodox hours of operation, flexibility, modest rates, enormous discipline and quality representation. If their answer is yes, I'm their lawyer.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
I wish clients knew how much lawyers (me especially) care about their issues, how we sacrifice long hours and time with our families in order to provide quality service for people in crisis. I wish they understand that even if a question takes five minutes to answer that it took three years of law school and several years thereafter to be able to deliver that five minute response.
What I wish clients knew about me? That I have multiple interests and they all dovetail nicely with each other. I am a professional true crime writer published with St. Martins; I have appeared multiple times on national television and have been a national speaker. Although I have two busy careers, neither clouds the other or reduces the quality and care I give my clients. Lawyers are nothing without reputation or integrity. I take both very seriously.
