This group is just amazing! First of all, they are very compassionate and professional. Having to file bankruptcy is stressful enough, but they made me feel calm and respected. They respond to emails and calls very quickly, and answer any questions I have, and truly seem to care. They were also upfront about all of the fees, what the payments would be, and NO hidden costs like some attorneys. My attorney is Morgan McCain, who is very kind. Also Jennifer & Cheyenne have been really helpful and nice. I would highly recommend this office!

It is still a little early to render any review. Their accountant had a problem opening my computer program, and therefore, I had to print all my paperwork and take it back down there. I have had no news or comments since. However, Sean is a fine fellow. I was very impressed.

Cindy Solomon is an outstanding paralegal and a kind, compassionate lady, her service was prompt and efficient. Actually it was better than outstanding, talked with her on the phone on Thursday and she came to the house on Friday prepared with the documents, took time to explain everything and even came back that evening to finish so she could file the paperwork first thing Monday morning which was very important to us. Very reasonable price since I had checked with two other services. A+

DEAL WITH CONFIDENCE Couldn't have been better. After previously botching up an eviction trying to do it myself. I knew I needed help but could not afford to pay an attorney more than I would collect in back rent owed me. I got lucky!! Finding Sheila and Fedora Legal Services in an internet search. The entire process couldn't have gone smoother with Sheila's assistance. Sheila demonstrated skillful knowledge preparing the very complicated court documents and having delinquent renter legally served with the proper summons and court documents. I was surprised how reasonable Fedora's fees were. Saved me apx $1500.00 compared to quotes I received from two lawyers just to prepare paperwork. Better than a hundred I was quoted from another local document prep service. Before biting the bullet and lining an attorney's pocket. Call Fedora, they are very communicative, prompt and inexpensive.

I had a fantastic experience hiring Judd Nemiro as my attorney for my divorce. Judd was always thoughtful, reasonable, and I always knew he was fighting on my side! I paid another family lawyer over $10,000 and he did nothing on my case. When I hired Judd, he immediately went to work and moved my case forward. Judd's rates were much more reasonable and affordable than my first lawyer. Judd was always available by phone or email and he would even take my calls on nights and weekends. Judd is an excellent attorney and he really does care about his clients. From the beginning he gave me a free one-hour consultation and he listened to me more than my first lawyer ever did. He got me the custody I wanted with my children and stopped my Ex-Wife's unreasonable requests. I highly recommend Judd!

Tammy was very flexible in her schedule and I really appreciated that she answered my request so late in the evening. She arrived at my client's house on time and maintained her professionalism even though my client wasn't all that happy that she was there (nothing against her of course). I will definitely continue to use Westside Legal Documents for future services.

When I needed an attorney to handle a real estate transaction that involved buying out two partners, I chose Jacque because I'd served on the board of a non-profit and was impressed with her work ethic, thoroughness and caring heart. As expected, she handled the situation impeccably, but it was when things threatened to go wrong when she truly shined. One of my partners had contract concerns which threatened to hold up the transaction and cost me thousands of dollars, I turned to Jacque for advice. She and I got on the phone with my partner and Jacque explained a complex element of the contract so well that she put my partner at ease and the transaction went through as planned. I refer her often, and will definitely call on her services again if I need her!

I needed last minute and I mean last minute services to review documents. Devon responded right away and replied right away to my questions first thing in Monday morning. He was able to place me into his schedule that same day. I was able to not delay a short notice closing. I'm extremely satisfied with his review and needed an attorney to make sure there were no mistakes. Humans make mistakes and I recommend everyone to have an attorney like Devon to review legal documents before signing. I'm at peace to know all is well thanks to him making time for my last minute request.

Anthony was extremely knowledgeable in my experience in dealing with him. He gave sound legal advice at a time when I needed it the most. He was professional, direct and clear in the way he helped me. You never hope to NEED an attorney, however if the need did arise to require Anthony's services again, I would not hesitate to ask him. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What kind of lawyer does wills?

No one likes talking about death, but it’s better than leaving your children or siblings to sort out your estate. A clearly planned will can make the time of mourning easier for everyone. An estate attorney will develop a legal will, create trusts on your behalf, and ensure the proper execution of your estate after you pass away.

Family attorneys and estate attorneys, also called probate and wills attorneys, can each prepare wills. The type of lawyer best suited to prepare your will depends on your situation. Most family attorneys provide services to prepare basic wills, including bequeathing property and personal items to family or naming a guardian for minor children. However, estate attorneys specialize in preparing wills in more complex situations. Consider hiring an estate attorney if you:

    • Have a large number of assets, especially those subject to estate taxes
    • Want to create a trust, such as allowing a spouse to live in your home until he or she dies and then leaving it to your children, or set up long-term care for a beneficiary
    • Have an ownership stake in a business
    • Expect someone to contest your will
    • Want to disinherit your spouse

How do you find a good lawyer for wills?

Estate planning is an important part of financial planning, so it’s important to find the right attorney to prepare your will. Although most family attorneys can put together a basic will, you may want one who specializes in wills and estate planning, especially if you have a lot of assets or a dependent to take care of. You may need an attorney who has expertise in planning and executing trusts and a background in taxes. Ask how the attorney charges; some charge by the hour, others have a set fee for writing wills, and some charge a percentage of the total value of the estate. Make a list of several potential wills attorneys to interview. Make sure you make a strong personal connection with your attorney — you need to be comfortable telling him or her personal, confidential information about your life, and you need to feel that the attorney is committed to solving any problems that may arise while writing your will. Also find out how long the attorney has practiced estate law and whether he or she has handled wills similar to yours.

How much does it cost to have a living will?

Either a family attorney or an estate, or wills, attorney can help you prepare a living will, either as part of your general estate planning or as an individual document. The cost typically ranges from $250 to $500, depending on your attorney’s fees; some charge by the hour, while others have a flat rate for writing a living will. Some states require living wills to be notarized, which adds an average of $5 to $15. In a living will — also called an advanced healthcare directive — you specify whether you want to be kept on life support if you become terminally ill or lapse into a persistent vegetative state. You can also answer other important questions in a living will like your preferences for tube feeding, artificial hydration and pain medication in situations when you cannot communicate your wishes on your own.

How much should an estate plan cost?

The cost of an estate plan depends largely on the number of parts it includes and the complexity of the documents. The most basic estate plan is simply a will, but it may also include designating power of attorney or a health care proxy to another person, writing a living will, or making a HIPAA authorization. The average national cost to make an estate plan ranges from $350 to $900, but can cost much more in complicated situations. For example, an estate attorney may charge only $900 to prepare a basic will providing outright distribution — meaning that property and assets are distributed upon death. Writing a more complicated will and holding assets in trusts can cost $3,000, or more. The process of creating an estate plan generally takes two to four weeks, starting with the initial consultation with the wills attorney to identify areas of concern in order to design an estate plan that fits your goals and budget. Once an estate plan is written, the attorney meets with the clients, a notary, and two neutral witnesses to review and sign the plan and associated documents.
