FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
$20 for each half hour. I strongly recommend half hour weekly lessons. I will also do 1hr lessons for $40 and am happy to discuss group lessons, or consultations.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
All new students spend 100% of their lesson time with me learning brief music theory, proper grip and stick control, and also work to learn a basic rock beat and fill. Each week we build on those skills in a methodical way to expand their ability to quickly read music (which is much easier than people think), and build their overall stick control and mastery of the drum set, with rock, funk, jazz, latin, blues, and country beats, fills, solos and overall 4 way coordination and independence. I also give students the opportunity to work on songs or skills with me that they may be interested in outside of our normal coursework.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been studying/playing drums for over 30 years. I took 14 years of private drum lessons with some of the best drummers around Detroit and Phoenix. I played in schools bands from 6th grade through high school, and then at Mesa CC and Arizona State University. I have played with dozens of bands, several hundred times, in front of large audiences. I am always going to drum clinics from the greatest drummers/educators in the world. I am also a part of several online forums and "expert" panels. I maintain subscriptions to drumming periodicals and soak up everything I can about drumming and the drum industry.
