Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Most of our work is done with residential structures under 1500 sq ft which allows us to really focus on beautiful details that not only make the projects more aesthetically pleasing, but also give them longevity with less maintenance. We are well versed in natural building practices that reduce the use of harmful or toxic building materials and substitute these products where ever possible and appropriate to a project. I love working together with clients to help them manifest their dreams. We bring an understanding of how materials best perform together, as well as the economics of a project, so that we can collectively determine the best solutions within a particular budget.

I hired Aware Architecture to assist with a fairly complicated remodel and addition project in the City of Phoenix, AZ. I brought Aware Architecture into the project because I was looking for a firm to help distill and integrate my ideas and vision into the design of my home. I was so happy to find a firm that was confident using natural and sustainable building materials in a responsible and beautiful way. They quickly became a partner on the project and were incredibly responsive to my needs. Mr. Himat Khalsa has a truly unique and invaluable skill set--which spans from architectural design to a nuanced sense of human psychology and human values. He gives a home owner a comprehensive review of all the home's design potential--to fully reflect one's values, needs and personality. He has been very flexible and useful during phone, email or in-person consultations--some of which brought about crucial changes during the building process. He is respectful to other members on the remodel team (e.g., contractors) which has helped speed project completion. I would completely recommend him to others contemplating a remodel or new-build project. He can add artistic, functionally sound features to your home and has useful connections for materials and world-class artisans.

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

We are livelong learners and very hands on with our projects. Many of our projects have a workshop component where we will bring experts in and teach a class with the clients and others in the community to learn about a particular method of building construction or use of a certain material.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

The main focus of our firm is residential new construction and remodel. We do a lot of smaller structures like guest homes, studios, and workshops and we enjoy the challenge of designing and constructing highly efficient spaces. We are very comfortable using natural materials in our projects if the client is interested in using these types of materials.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

It is important to find someone that listens intently to your vision and then integrates the important components of that into the design. Not every idea will make it into the final design and it takes a high level of awareness and experience to develop and discover which ones are appropriate for a particular project when considering the site, program, budget, and timeline.
