Dave has my highest praise and recommendation as a guitar teacher extraordinaire. He is an inspiration as a guitarist, a teacher, and a person. As a person, he is caring, respectful, trustworthy, and fun-loving. He's a semi-retired behavioral therapist, whose mission in life is to help others achieve success, and this mission is evident in the way he approaches teaching. As a guitarist, he knows, can play, and can teach every aspect of guitar, from beginner to advanced, in any genre of guitar music. He's a former performer and can play a guitar with the best. And his repertoire of guitar music is endless. As a teacher, he is a patient listener, he encourages and motivates us by being positive in his appraisal of our work, and he's a fun-loving guy who knows that we learn best when we are enjoying what we do. He is also an inventive teacher, who knows each student's learning style, and he has a toolbox of unique ways students can learn skills and techniques more easily. His greatest joy is seeing us take those "quantum leaps" to the next level of achievement. Dave is a teacher who opens doors to new aspects of music and encourages us to reach beyond our expectations for ourselves. And we do reach. It is amazing what I have accomplished beyond that horizon. I'm 75 years old. I've been taking lessons from Dave for 13 months, and I've never had so much fun learning something new. From a rank beginner, I can now find music I like, look up the chords, transpose if necessary, and sit down and enjoy playing. I've found a pleasure in playing guitar that I had never imagined. Dave has translated his love of playing into his love of teaching, and I have been one of the happy beneficiaries of his gift. Dave is a treasure.Taking lessons with him is a truly joyful experience. Whatever your talents and aspirations, you will achieve your goals and even beyond. I recommend taking lessons from Dave as one of the best investments in music education you can make, and your results will add a new dimension of enjoyment to your life.Sep 2, 2014Verified
Dave is an excellent guitar teacher. He has years of experience and he makes the lesson fun! My 15 year old son is the student but I have learned so much from watching the lessons, too. Dave is so patient and caring. My son has learned so much in a very short amount of time. Dave is very professional, enjoys teaching, and has a great rapport with his students. Dave always compliments my son and gives honest feedback in a non-critical manner. My son is gaining so much confidence! We are truly thankful and grateful to have Dave in our lives!Aug 31, 2014
I am brand new to learning the guitar at 57 yrs old. Dave has been instrumental in providing me the mechanics, the lessons and the steps to actually be able to understand the guitar, notes, chords, & strumming. Most importantly how to play. His instructional method is about having fun and truly leaning to play songs that you want to play. Blues to Classic Rock. I would recommend him for beginners to advanced guitar enthusiast. He will tell you though as with anything practice, practice, practice is the key.Sep 1, 2014

Guitar Lessons (for adults)
David has allowed me to learn quite a bit on the guitar in a very short period of time. He has a way of explaining that is very easy to digest and is able to identify issues and then correct them. I highly recommend David.May 12, 2017Verified
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I charge $35.00 per hour. It is the same for beginning students, all the way up through professional guitarists, because though the content of the lesson varies, it's still the same hour.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?Unless the student has not played at all in the past, the first thing to do is establish what the student knows already. Much of this can be established by email or phone before the first lesson. This way we're able to save time and get up and running quickly.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?Early on I had instructors that guided me through guitar theory and dexterity, as well as sight reading, and ear training methods. Later on, I would hire working studio musicians to teach me what they were doing that put them in demand in the recording studios.
