FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We charge a flat rate for repairs based upon a national average database - It is impossible for me to quote the repair over the phone, the system must be evaluated 1st hand
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I read "HVACR Today" the monthly newspaper for HVAC professionals in Maricopa county. I also subscribe to "Indoor Comfort News" - It's a publication for HVAC professionals in the Western United States. I also read "HVACR Business Magazine". I learned on the job and have been learning about HVAC since 2002. I'm a Certified Master Heat Pump Technician by the Arizona Heat Pump Council, but really the best education comes from getting out there and getting your hands dirty, doing the work, meeting people and making mistakes - Everyone makes mistakes, we learn from our mistakes and we get better. When you are ready to learn at warp speed, find a way to meet and/or gain an introduction to someone in your own field that is more successful than you but isn't a competitor in your market. Most recently I have discovered that you can learn much more about business if you network with other business owners in different fields instead of just your own industry. Once you've had a chance to get your feet wet, you learn that there's not really many secrets in business. Business is fluid and constantly changing. I just watched a youtube interview with Donald Trump about business. He says, be slow to hire and be quick to fire. He also says that he is always learning because even billionaires don't know everything. My official business advice is to learn how to surf.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I needed a new career when I relocated to Arizona - I answered an ad for "HVAC Sales", no experience necessary in 2002 - I received 3 days training and then I was declared to be an HVAC expert and given my own truck. I have been able to provide a nice living for my family ever since. I was the hiring managers 2nd choice, his 1st choice quit after 2 weeks
