Our camera techniques are unique in that we look for the perspectives that others miss. Many times, we will even fabricate our own equipment and camera mounts to make sure we can get awesome shots. Lumberjack Productions was the videographer for my very important 'milestone' birthday celebration.  It was a huge extravaganza, with 80 guests.  There was a lot of different activities going on, plus live music and dancing.  Derick Martin did an incredible job of capturing ALL of the magic of the night.  He arrived early to set up, so I did not have to worry about that part of the party.  He went to work setting up lights, etc., but did so in a very considerate way,  making sure that none of it was in the way of guest traffic. He did not make this my problem. There was never an issue of safety.  

He moved in and out of the activities and crowd so easily, and captured so many different snippets of the evening.  He is an extremely likeable man, with a great personality, so guests were very inclined to open up and talk to him.  He set up a few stationary cameras as well, so he captured different angles of the events. I was so surprised the very next morning when he sent a 5 minute highlight clip for youtube posting. After viewing this clip, I was so impressed.  He started the video with me opening the door... and rushing through the house to the party scene.  It is very dramatic, exciting, and so well done.  I have had many people remark at what an excellent job he did ...not onlyof  filming, but also editing this 5 minute clip. It really tells a story. The sound is super quality... the picture is flawless. Derick is extremly artistic, creative, and savvy in determining what to film and how to seque from one thing to the next.

 I can't wait to get the final DVD. I know it is going to be spectacular.  Derick was there from 4:30 to 9:30.  During that time, he interacted with the guests so easily, that you would think he was one of my invited friends.  However, I had never met him before.  When the party was over, he quickly took everything down, and left with a very gracious goodbye. 

 I was so impressed with his work and his work ethic.  You can tell he takes this so seriously, and is determined to do the best job possible. His fee is reasonable and well worth what I paid for.
I was really lucky to have blindly chosen his production company from a list of others posted on the internet.  I would highly recommend his services for anyone wanting a high quality video of their event. I will definitely use him again when the need arises.

How did you get started doing this type of work?
Video production and editing began as a hobby for me. I did enroll in full-time production classes in Berekely and found out that already knew most of what they were teaching from experience so I quit school and bought books and studied on-line the things that I needed to know. In 2008 I got laid off from my job of 10 years and decided to start LumberJack Producitons. I have been doing video production and editing ever since.
What types of customers have you worked with?
There is no common job. Every job, every event, and every customer is unique. The key to video production is being prepared for anything. I have 5 years of video production and editing and great equipment. I feel confident that I am prepared for any production.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Ask questions. Ask to see samples. Have a discussion about the project and share ideas. I find that many times people who are looking for video production are doing so for the first time. It is always a good idea to talk it over with people who provide that service and see what the options are and what is a good fit for your needs.
