Sherman Handyman & Cleaning Services's reply
Unfortunately I went out of my way to handle one of Mr Cunnighams projects by subcontracting a job. For the customer it was a " win win" situation! There was a broken spring On his garage that through investigation I discovered that many of these doors in this housing track did not have the appropriate spring for the weight of the door. Also through investigation it was more beneficial for the customer to have the subcontractor to install the springs (2 because the broken weakened the good one) because their installation afforded them a 5 year guarantee whereas me installing provided no guarantee by the manufacture to pass on to the customer. In my 25+ years, I had only seen garage door springs broken by neglegence. there was no neglagence herer. I disclosed this information to the client and provided them with the option of me installing the springs or the vendor. They chose the vendor because of the warranty. I provided them a retail price with a variance of $30 in the event it the springs were the most expensive because of the 10 different spring possiblities available. Unfortunately the installer disclosed my wholesale price to the spouse upon arrival and I explained to the client that the retail price would have reflected the same had they directly contracted the vender themselves. The vendor repaired the door. The repairs I made to their home were the result of fixing things that was not completed by a plumber that they contracted prior for broken house pipes. The most important of the jobs done involved REPAIRING SOMEONE ELSES UN FINISHED WORK! One room had a large area of wall removed were new piping was installed WAS NOT RECESSED ( stuck out beyond the wall)! Even though the wall was properly repaired with the pipe installed beyod the wall surface, I told the customer that I would use another material other than drywall to make her wall smoother even with the pipe sticking out. I contracted business with the husband however i dealt with the spouse when the repairing was being done. Her stories were interesting of the numerous "handymen" that have been to their home, did their repairs and left the spouse with additional housework cleaning up the mess they had left behind. Why so many? She was greatly appreciative for the job I performed and how I left the area spotless to her satisfactionas, as if no one had been there! Even though I had agreed to re-do a job to her satisfaction though it was no fault of mine, it took over 3 weeks to receive a response to return to their home (I purchased a special material outside of our agreement to satisfy the wife). The response I received was was an email that they were not happy with my work! This was according to the husband, Dave Cunningham. He gave me no opportunity to repair or rebuttal because in his email he made it clear not to contact him or his wife. He gave me no opportunity to repair anything to his satisfaction nor gave me the opportunity to inquire what was not done correctly! Interestingly enough, the last day that I worked there, I went over a list of repairs made with his spouse, show each completion and she was very happy by her comments with my work and cleanliness! In a letter to Mr Cunningham, I expressed the the same statement and he never responded. I discussed this incident with friends, clients and associates and they all believed that this customer did not want to honor money committment. The majority of business I perform is based on referral because of my integrity to get the job done right!

Sherman Handyman & Cleaning Services's reply
Initially, we set an appointment and he had to cancel due to a death in the family. I contacted him after to see if the work needed to be done with no response. A few weeks later I received a call from him to complete some other work but we were unable to connect and set up a time that worked for both of us. I try my best to please my customers and set up times that are convenient for them, unfortunately, we were not able to do that for this customer.
